Dear J.K. Rowling,
I used to hate Harry Potter up until I was in the fourth grade. By then, the last movie had just come out. My sister and I were never very close because of how different we were and our four year age difference. We have never had anything in common until she introduced me to Harry Potter. It all started when I saw her reading one of the Harry Potter books. The reason I had “hated” the franchise is because at the time it was not very cool to like it. People thought it was nerdy. So, I had never read any of the books. Now, I would say, “Don’t knock it ‘til you try it!” Then, I made a snarky comment to my sister for even being seen with the book. She was already predicting my comment, so she made a good point to, “Read it before I judge it,” My thoughts were along the lines of ‘yeah right’ and ‘I would never’. Though, I was curious about it, I loved to read when I was younger. So, I picked up the book from the kitchen table, that I now believe she left there on purpose, and started reading it. The book I picked up was the second book, “Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets”. I started reading about people being “petrified,” the basilisk monster, and Tom Marvolo Riddle. I loved it and it is now my favorite book of all time. The characters had so much life and personality. My sister came into my room and saw me reading it. I was embarrassed, but it finally gave us something to bond over.
