Art is a way people choose to make the world a better place. “Art is a way of grasping the world. Not merely the physical world, which is what science attempts to do; but the whole world, and specifically, the human world, the world of society and spiritual experience” (Nieters). The beauty of art is that it is the thing that everyone seeking whether consciously or unconsciously. It is about finding the empathy between and art creators and consumers. Math, language, music, and literature can all be considered arts. If I do not know how to play the piano, and I would just strike the keys with no rules, which is not art. Instead, it is obviously a torture for people around me. Traditionally, people assert that works that can be called the art in the music field are the works made by the true masters, such as Beethoven and Bach. However, a new form of music art has been widely spread and accepted by the general public nowadays—rap music.
When I was a little girl, art in my eyes was just some abstract things like fashion or sculptures. It seemed far away from the daily life, and artists are so mysterious just like magicians. As I grow older, I slowly understand what art is when I was crying during the movie, when I was drunk with the sonata, and when I was swinging with the sounds of tango. Art is like a woman that everybody wants but nobody can get. She is changeable, extreme, and has no constraints. She can be soft and tender, and be tempting and fatal, because there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. However, everything changed after me hearing rap music for the first time. Whether it is the enjoyment artistic and ideological motivation, or mental shock, has rap music enrich all aspects of my life. What I felt was like discovering the new land. It started accompanying me every time when I work out in the gym and it would also be my tool to vent. Nevertheless, with my deep understanding, I found out that rap music is not just a way to release pressure but it seems plays a deeper role in the society, too.
