—he creado más oportunidades para apreciar los beneficios y la belleza de la naturaleza
—he visto tanto valor y determinación y les agradezco a los que ayudan
—he visto otras veces abusos del poder y he lamentado cuánto trabajo temenos aún que hacer (en los EE.UU. y en el mundo) para asegurar que los derechos humanos son acesibles a todos
—he prometidos a mis estudiantes y mis seres queridos que trabajaré con ellos para crear los cambios necesarios para que los derechos humanos sean acesibles a todos
—he buscado y he apreciado lo bello que aún existe entre tanto dolor y lo he celebrado

—que mis estudiantes comprendan cuánto me animan, cuánto me inspiran, y cuánto me preocupo por su bienestar y que les he echado mucho de menos en estas semanas largas y estoy triste no haber tenido la oportunidad de terminar el año acadeémico con ellos en el edificio de E.O. Smith High School
—que mis estudiantes tengan más momentos alegres que tristes durante el verano 2020 y en el futuro, que sigan aprendiendo y que vivan con curiosidad y con preguntas, y que sepan que es verdad que creo en ellos y su capacidad de hacer el mundo y mejor lugar para todos
—que los ciudadanos del mundo encuentren paz, menos enfermedades, y más igualdad algún día
In the past months (during the COVID-19 pandemic),
—my students have taught me so much and I am most grateful to them
—my loved ones have supported me in difficult times
—I have created more opportunities for myself to get outside and appreciate nature
—I have seen so much courage and determination in so many and I thank those who help
—I have seen and lamented, once again, how much work we still have to do (in the United States and the world) to make certain that human rights are accessible to all
—I have promised my students and my loved ones that I will work with them to create the necessary changes so that human rights are accessible for all
—I have searched for and I have appreciated the beauty that still exists amongst so much pain and I have celebrated this beauty
What I hope
—is that my children and family know how much I love and adore them
—is that my other loved ones know the same!
—is that my students understand how much they energize me, inspire me and how much I worry about their well-being
—is that my students know I have missed them during these long weeks, and I am sad that we didn’t finish the year together in the E.O. Smith High School building
—is that my students have more happy moments than sad during the summer of 2020 (and in the future), that they continue learning and that they live with curiosity and questions and that they know that it is true that I believe in them and their ability to change the world for the better for everyone
—is that the people of the world find peace, less sickness and greater equality for all one day
